Caturra from Jose Angel Espinoza's La Confianza plantation in Peru offers a delightful blend of plum, blackberry, and nutty ice cream flavours. This naturally processed coffee is characterised by a pleasant fruity acidity and a medium body.
La Confianza, run by Jose Angel Espinoza and his wife, Edita Peralta, is located in the mountainous region of Chirinos in Peru. This unique location, combined with their meticulous approach to cultivation, allows the coffee cherries to develop slowly, resulting in a richer flavour and enhanced sweetness. The plantation covers just two hectares, enabling full control over the quality of the crops.
The coffee in this package is the result of a complete shift to natural processing. In recent years, Jose and Edita have focused on this environmentally friendly method, which not only conserves water but also enhances flavour intensity. Drying the cherries on raised beds for 35-45 days requires special attention—regularly turning the cherries and keeping a close eye on the temperature. This dedication ensures exceptional consistency and quality in the beans.
However, La Confianza isn't just about coffee—it’s also about bees! Jose and Edita are passionate beekeepers, a hobby that started small but has now become a key part of their farm operations. They currently have 20 beehives, and thanks to the bees pollinating the coffee flowers, the plantation can thrive even more, maintaining biodiversity and ecological balance. This approach not only enriches the life of the farm but also supports the planet.
