Ethiopia Gemechu Shonora 250 g

Under the canopy of Harruu—a wide tree that the Oromo people use as a gathering place for traditional meetings—a coffee was born that has been uniting people for generations. The name of the plantation, "Harruu Bunnaqaa," honours this special place where the Oromo leaders, Gadaa and Qaalluu, meet to share coffee, blessings, and peace.

The high altitude of the Guji region and its nutrient-rich soil give this coffee its distinctive character. The beans from grower Gemechu Shonora captivate with intense, complex notes—juicy mandarin, a light, hop-like freshness, and a subtle, honeyed sweetness. This lot underwent a natural process, with ripe cherries drying for 22 days on raised beds, allowing their natural sweetness and aromatic intensity to develop fully.

As a result, the coffee is filled with fresh, herbal, and citrussy notes that surprise with their depth and balance. This local varietal, though classified as Grade 2, surpasses its category in flavour, proving that quality and character matter far more than numbers.
